MEDINIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during a rally in West Bengal on Sunday, accusing the party of rampant corruption. Modi stated that the TMC has "earned a PhD in looting" over the past 15 years, claiming that their governance has led not only to increased corruption in various sectors, including teacher recruitment and government jobs, but also to the exploitation of funds intended for disaster relief.

With the assembly polls looming, Modi's speech aimed to consolidate the BJP's position against the TMC, especially ahead of the first phase of voting scheduled for April 23. He described the TMC leadership as being primarily focused on "the development of infiltrators" and alleged that they are attempting to undermine reservation systems for backward classes. "The party is snatching the reservation of Other Backward Classes and trying to provide it to Muslims," Modi claimed, stoking controversy ahead of the elections.

In addition to criticizing the TMC's alleged corruption, Modi highlighted the BJP's plans for West Bengal should they win the elections. He reassured government employees that they would benefit from the Seventh Pay Commission, stating, "I want to assure all government employees that once the BJP comes to power, you will get the benefits."
