INDORE: A severe water crisis has emerged in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, leading to tragic consequences with at least 10 reported deaths and over 1,400 residents suffering from severe vomiting and diarrhoea. Authorities have identified contaminated drinking water as the source of this public health emergency, sparking outrage among local residents and opposition parties alike.

In response to the unfolding crisis, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken decisive action by ordering strict measures against civic officials deemed responsible for the situation. On social media, he announced that show-cause notices would be issued to key personnel in the Indore Municipal Corporation, including the Additional Commissioner and the Superintending Engineer overseeing the Water Distribution Works Department. “The necessary positions in the Indore Municipal Corporation will be immediately filled to prevent such incidents in the future,” Yadav stated.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer of Indore, Madhav Prasad Hasani, is actively overseeing the treatment of the affected individuals. “We are prioritizing the health and welfare of our citizens, and senior doctors along with district administration are monitoring patients closely to ensure they receive the proper treatment,” Hasani conveyed. Preliminary investigations suggest that bacteria commonly found in sewage were present in drinking water samples, highlighting a critical public health failure.
