HYDERABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Telangana has voiced strong condemnation against the Telangana Government and the police for what they termed as “undeclared restrictions” on the upcoming celebrations of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2026. The VHP claims the restrictions are a misguided attempt to coincide with the start of Ramzan, asserting that similar limitations are not imposed on other religious festivities in the region.

In a press release, the VHP emphasized that any attempts to limit the celebrations would not be tolerated. "Why does the government apply double standards on festival celebrations? We expect our rights to celebrate our heritage and culture to be respected," stated a VHP spokesperson. The organization has urged passionate Hindu youth to take to the streets and honor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's legacy with grand celebrations.
