BENGALURU: In a chilling case of parricide, 33-year-old tech professional Rohan Chandra Bhatt has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his retired Navy officer father and dentist mother to death inside their upscale apartment in east Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The horrific incident unfolded around 7:30 am in Vignan Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the HAL Police Station.

The victims, identified as Naveen Chandra Bhatt, 60, and his wife Dr Shyamala Bhatt, 55, suffered severe injuries during the attack and were quickly transported to Manipal Hospital. Tragically, medical staff declared both parents dead shortly after arrival, at about 8:15 am. Preliminary reports indicate that the altercation arose from an ongoing family dispute, although the specifics of the motive are still under investigation.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), the accused carried out the attack with the intention of killing both parents. A murder case was registered following a complaint from Dr Madhavi Nair, a resident of the same apartment complex and a colleague of the victims. Rohan Chandra Bhatt was taken into custody shortly after the incident and is expected to be presented before the court soon.

The bodies of the deceased couple have been moved to the Bowring Hospital mortuary. Their daughter, who resides in the United States, is reportedly en route to Bengaluru, as authorities plan to conduct the post-mortem examination upon her arrival. Neighbors expressed shock and disbelief at the violence that erupted in what they described as a peaceful residential area. Investigators remain engaged in questioning the accused and collecting forensic evidence to piece together this disturbing crime.
