Central to these upgrades is the introduction of Member Tags, which allows users to attach a brief identifier next to their names in group chats. This feature aims to help users identify themselves and their roles within various conversations—be it “Saumya’s Brother” in family chats or “Treasurer” in community forums. “In large group settings where not everyone knows each other, these tags can make a significant difference,” explained a WhatsApp spokesperson.
