The Himachal college student, who died after sexual assault and brutal ragging, was touched inappropriately by her professor. The 19-year-old revealed the chilling details in a video that was recorded before her death.

In the video, the 19-year-old spoke about the professor's alleged indecent acts and instances of sexual as well as mental harassment. She accused the professor of inappropriate behaviour like touching her chest, and mental harassment in the classroom and on the campus.

"Ajeeb ajeeb harkate karte the. Peeche padh jaate the (He would do strange things, he repeatedly accosted me)," the girl is heard responding to a question by a woman. She even alleged the accused threatened her to keep quiet when she protested.

When asked about the professor's name, the victim replied, "Ashok sir".

The college professor and three seniors (female students) were booked on charges of ragging and sexual assault after the girl's death. In his complaint, the victim's father alleged that his daughter was beaten by three seniors - Harshita, Aakriti and Komolika - on September 18, 2025, while a college professor, Ashok Kumar, indulged in obscene acts with her.

According to the father, the harassment and intimidation left his daughter extremely frightened and mentally disturbed, resulting in a serious decline in her health. Initially, she was undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Himachal Pradesh. As her condition worsened, she was referred to a hospital in Ludhiana. She passed away during treatment on December 26, 2025.

The police have filed a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 2009, police officer Ashok Rattan said.

Police said they were initially probing the ragging angle as the complaint filed on December 20 referred only to that aspect. However, the scope of the investigation has widened following allegations against a professor. Authorities added that the probe will examine all the hospitals where the student was treated before her death.

Meanwhile, expressing his condolences to the girl's family, Rakesh Pathania - the principal of the Government Degree College in Dharamshala - said no complaint had been filed by the teenager with the college authorities.

According to Pathania, the 19-year-old had failed three subjects in her first year and, as per university guidelines, could not be promoted to the second year. "She approached the professor who teaches Geography. It was explained to her that she had to take admission to the first year again. She was also depressed because of her results and felt we were deliberately denying her admission in the second year. Based on the information given to me by teachers, she has not attended classes since July 29,” the principal said.
