NOIDA: Air Quality Deteriorates, GRAP-IV Measures Reinstituted

NOIDA: Air quality levels are sliding towards 'severe' in Noida, prompting authorities to reinstate GRAP-IV restrictions aimed at addressing the crisis. With pollution levels soaring, health experts are urging residents to take precautions. The measures target construction activities and vehicular emissions.

NOIDA: The air quality in Noida has taken a alarming turn, inching alarmingly close to 'severe' levels as recent measurements indicate an air quality index fluctuating around the 400 mark. In response to this critical situation, the authorities have reinstated the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP-IV), a framework designed to combat severe pollution episodes through a series of strict measures.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that continuous emissions from vehicular congestion, construction activities, and seasonal factors are contributing significantly to the worsening air quality. "The decline in air quality is alarming and requires immediate action," stated a spokesperson for the Noida Authority. "We must comply with GRAP-IV guidelines to protect public health and the environment." The measures will include restrictions on construction and demolition activities, the reintroduction of anti-dust measures, and increased scrutiny of vehicular emissions.

Health experts are voicing concerns over the impact of poor air quality on vulnerable populations. With particulate matter levels rising, the risk of respiratory issues, cardiovascular diseases, and overall health deterioration becomes increasingly significant. "Residents, especially children and the elderly, should minimize outdoor activities and use air purifiers when indoors," advised Dr. Meera Singh, a leading pulmonologist in the region.

The reinstatement of GRAP-IV not only aims to improve air quality but also serves as a wake-up call for citizens and policymakers alike. Given the growing concerns around environmental health and its implications, many are calling for sustainable practices to address these challenges long-term. As Noida battles this pollution crisis, public cooperation and compliance with the new measures will be crucial in restoring air quality to safer levels.
