DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an urgent warning for several states across India, forecasting heavy rains and thunderstorms over the next few days. This unexpected climatic shift is likely to bring a substantial drop in temperatures, with weather conditions expected to take a drastic turn.

According to the IMD, the shift is anticipated to start affecting the northern regions first, including areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. “We’re looking at a remarkable change in weather patterns, with rainfall levels substantially exceeding our earlier predictions,” said an IMD spokesperson. Reports suggest that certain areas could receive rain accumulating over 100 millimeters, raising concerns regarding flooding and landslides in vulnerable terrains.
