NASHIK: The accused in the TCS Nashik case are preparing bail applications, citing delays and mischaracterization of charges. Allegations include sexual harassment and religious coercion against TCS employees. The National Commission for Women has initiated an inquiry into the case.

NASHIK: The ongoing TCS Nashik BPO sexual harassment and religious coercion case has seen the accused moving forward with plans to file for bail and anticipatory bail. Legal representatives for the accused, including Nida Khan, are reportedly preparing their applications while highlighting the delay in receiving a certified copy of the First Information Report (FIR).

Nida Khan, once referred to as the HR head and later identified as a sales telecaller, is claiming her pregnancy and ongoing medical condition to justify her anticipatory bail plea in court. Her case is particularly significant as it exemplifies the broader allegations against the accused, who have been charged with a range of offences from sexual harassment to attempts at forced religious conversion over a period of four years.

A total of eight individuals have been named in the case, including six men and two women. Among them, seven have been detained, while the remaining individual is preparing to file anticipatory bail. Danish Shaikh, a key accused, already has a bail application pending in court. Defense attorneys are expected to argue that there was significant delay in filing the FIRs and insist that the charges lack substantial evidence, terming the case as politically motivated.

As the controversy unfolds, the National Commission for Women has taken notice of the matter, expressing concerns regarding the alleged systemic abuse at TCS's Nashik unit. Initial reports from victims suggest they endured unwanted physical contact, inappropriate comments, and threats regarding job security tied to their responses to the harassment. Allegations also included attempts at forced religious conversion, with reports of demeaning comments made by the accused about Hinduism.

An investigation initiated by a special team is currently examining nine FIRs lodged against the accused. The NCW has also established a fact-finding committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. This committee, comprising notable figures from legal and law enforcement backgrounds, is tasked with conducting on-site inquiries and is expected to recommend remedial actions aimed at strengthening workplace safety for women. The committee must deliver its report within 10 working days.
