JAIPUR: A significant investigation has unfolded in connection with the leaked guess paper for the NEET-UG 2026 exam, implicating a Kerala-based MBBS student. The student, hailing from Sikar in Rajasthan, allegedly received a set of questions similar to those on the NEET exam and then forwarded this information to friends and a hostel owner back home.
Ajay Pal Lamba, Inspector General of the Special Operations Group (SOG), revealed that the guess paper first emerged when the student received it from a friend. It was subsequently disseminated to other students, especially those living in a hostel in Sikar. The hostel owner took the unusual step of sharing this material with students, suggesting it might aid their exam preparation. However, he later alerted local authorities, triggering a larger investigation.
Officials indicated that the guess paper's route extended through a contact in Haryana's Gurugram, ultimately reaching students across Rajasthan before the NEET-UG exam, held on May 3. In response to these developments, a collaborative task force comprising police from various districts—including Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Jaipur—has questioned more than 150 candidates along with their associates and families, aiming to unravel the full extent of the leak.
"This situation underscores the seriousness of safeguarding examination integrity," said an official involved in the inquiry. The leaked material has not only provided an unfair advantage but also raised critical questions about the examination process and student accountability.
As the investigation continues, officials hope to halt any further breaches and restore trust in the academic evaluation system. The ramifications of this incident could have lasting effects on students' futures, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to ensure fairness in competitive examinations.
