MUMBAI: In a shocking incident from Paydhuni, four members of a family tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances, prompting an investigation into the possibility of food poisoning. The victims, identified as Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen (35), and their two daughters, Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13), previously shared a meal with relatives on April 25 before falling ill later that night.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pravin Munde confirmed that an unnatural death report has been filed at the JJ Marg police station. Witnesses reported that the family, after hosting relatives for dinner, consumed watermelon around 1 am. Reports indicate the family members began experiencing severe symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea in the early hours of the morning, around 5-6 am.

Local resident Dr. Zaid Qureshi remarked on the suddenness of their decline, stating, “Their condition worsened suddenly at night. They were showing clear signs of distress.” All four were quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical staff attempted to stabilize their condition; however, none survived.

In the wake of the tragedy, police have commenced an investigation into the deaths, registering a case of accidental death. DCP Munde noted that a postmortem has been performed, and both food and biological samples have been secured for forensic testing to determine if food poisoning truly was the cause.

The distressing event has sent shockwaves through the community, raising urgent questions about food safety and highlighting the potential dangers associated with food handling. Local authorities are urging residents to exercise caution, especially during gatherings, as they await the results of the investigation to uncover the root cause of this heartbreaking scenario.
