MUMBAI: A minor fire ignited on Thursday evening at Terminal 1 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, prompting a swift emergency response from local authorities. The Mumbai Fire Brigade dispatched personnel immediately to address the situation, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported to have begun around 18:10 hours, with a spokesperson from the airport indicating that a short circuit was the likely cause. The incident took place on the ground floor of the ground-plus-three storey structure located at 1B Circle, Santacruz East. The fire was categorized as Level I by approximately 19:05 hours, as firefighters worked diligently to prevent further damage. The blaze was primarily contained to the electric powerhouse area, impacting electrical trays, wiring, and panels within the facility.

Authorities confirmed that rapid containment efforts minimized disruption, maintaining normal operations at one of India’s busiest airports. "The emergency response teams swiftly brought the fire under control," stated an airport spokesperson. The quick action of the Mumbai Fire Brigade, in conjunction with police and ward staff, helped avert a potentially larger crisis, ensuring passenger safety and continued operations at the terminal.
