DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new corridors of the Delhi Metro at a ceremonial event on Sunday, a move designed to significantly enhance urban connectivity in the capital. The inauguration included the 12.3 km Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur corridor and the 9.9 km Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park corridor, marking a key milestone in the expansion of public transport in Delhi.

The Prime Minister emphasized that these new metro routes will not only improve travel times for commuters but will also reduce traffic congestion on the roads. "These corridors are integral to our vision for a smart, sustainable, and inclusive city," Modi stated during the ceremony, noting that the metro network will add vital links to neighborhoods and help ease daily commuting challenges for residents.

The inauguration is part of a larger initiative involving multiple development projects in Delhi, amounting to a total expenditure of ₹33,500 crore. This includes various other metro corridors under Phase V-A of the Delhi Metro expansion plan. Additionally, Modi will initiate GPRA redevelopment projects with an investment of ₹15,200 crore, aimed at modernizing housing and administrative infrastructure in the city. These efforts are meant to provide enhanced living and working conditions without placing a financial burden on the public.
