The agreement was reached during a recent visit by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval to Ottawa, where he met with his Canadian counterpart Nathalie Drouin. This meeting marked the first high-level engagement since Canada made accusations regarding India's alleged involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023.

As both nations look to improve security collaboration, the officials discussed a variety of pressing issues.
