DEHRA DUN: In a significant development, the Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the high-profile murder case of Ankita Bhandari. This recommendation comes on the heels of an emotional request from Ankita's parents, making it clear that the government respects their wishes as part of its commitment to justice.

During a press conference, Chief Minister Dhami articulated the government's approach to the case, emphasizing a process that he deemed fair, transparent, and sensitive. "Our commitment has always been to ensure justice right from the outset," he stated. Following Ankita's tragic death in 2022, when she was murdered by the owner of her workplace along with two employees, the state quickly established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to tackle the case with urgency.

All accused parties were arrested promptly, and significant measures were undertaken to ensure that they faced strong legal actions without the possibility of bail. The SIT's thorough investigation led to the formulation of a chargesheet, and in a decisive outcome, the Kotdwar Court sentenced the trio to life imprisonment for their heinous crime.

However, the call for a CBI investigation escalated over time, influenced by public sentiment and circulating audio clips surrounding the case. Metering the anguish of Ankita's family, Dhami clarified that the images of justice are not just for the courts but also for the community that feels this loss deeply.
