DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party will announce its new national president on January 20. DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has confirmed it will announce its new national president on January 20, a significant development for the ruling party in India. As part of the announcement, the party released a detailed schedule for the electoral process, indicating that nominations for the presidential post will be filed on January 19.

According to the BJP’s national returning officer K. Laxman, candidates can submit their nominations between 2 PM and 4 PM on January 19. Following the nomination phase, there will be a scrutiny of the documents submitted, scheduled between 4 PM and 5 PM the same day. If necessary, polling will be conducted on January 20, followed by the formal announcement of the new president.

Insider reports suggest that Nitin Nabin, the BJP’s current working president, is poised to take over unopposed from outgoing president J. P. Nadda. There is growing anticipation around Nabin's leadership, with major party figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, rallying behind him.

On the nomination day, significant presence is expected from top BJP leaders, including Chief Ministers and State Party presidents from BJP-ruled states. The electoral process will engage over 5,708 voters from 30 states, with a voter list that reflects a diverse representation from the party's National Council and State Councils.

The outcome of this election is crucial not just for the BJP's inner circle but also for the political landscape of India, as the new president will play a pivotal role in shaping the party's strategies heading into future elections.
